Although not as popular as it once was, burial is still the preferred option for some families and we can make all the necessary arrangements.  The burial would normally happen after a funeral service, either in a place of worship, cemetery chapel, at our own service chapel at our Sutton-In-Ashfield premises, or at the graveside itself.

To be buried in a churchyard, the deceased must have been a parishioner of and resided in the church parish.  A person on the church electoral register or who has died in the parish can also be buried in the churchyard.  You will not receive any grave deeds for burial in a churchyard, as the grave strictly speaking remains the property of the church.

Other options include burial in a local authority owned cemetery, where in most cases the ownership of the grave and authority for future burials in the grave is granted to the applicant.  Some religious denominations have their own burial grounds and Natural and Woodland Burial is becoming an increasingly popular option.  Burial on private land is not forbidden, but legal procedures and rules have to be adhered to and we can give advice on this and all options for burial.

Wherever your loved one is laid to rest, the place is usually marked by a headstone or memorial and we can refer you to our recommended stonemason.
